That title is a little forward, don't ya think? But truthfully, we are invited to almost every. single. one. And you can bet we count our blessings.
You see, this little business of ours is about so much more than about designing a rad wedding. It's really about the people. And we don't say that lightly. We say that because our clients are our friends, and there's really no two ways about it.Read More
Sometimes our blog feels like it's really just a collection of brag posts shoved together in front of your face to see, but when we have such dope clients, what's a girl to do?! (Yeah, you're right, the answer is BRAG the HELL on your clients!)Read More
A year and a half ago, I got a call that really really left me feeling shook (one of my new favorite terms). The nurse on the phone asked if I could hold for the doctor and instantly I knew this call wasn’t going to end the way I had hoped it would. His voice came on and told me that the nodule they had biopsied had come back malignant...then he paused and I filled the gap with an “Okay”, he then asked if I knew what the word malignant meant (I think he was surprised by my calmness?!). So again I filled the quietness with a “Yes, that means I have cancer." Tears filled my eyes and I just wanted to hang up the phone. He filled me in on what to expect next and then we hung up. Ashley was with me and she was just as shocked as I was (naively I really had never even considered the possibility that it could’ve actually have been cancer—and if you know me you know that I was THE BIGGEST hypochondriac growing up).Read More
Tuesday was a nice day because we got to sleep in (and thank god--a little recovery from the night before was SO needed). We started the day with hair--Alicia has been my colorist for a couple of years now and we needed to touch up my roots and we took off a few inches so that it was easier to manage (read: less blow dry time) and would hold shape better when curling it.Read More
OMG. Monday night got a little...CRAZY (read: AWESOME). It was Sammy Mac's birthday, and we wanted to celebrate her and let loose, so we snagged an Uber, headed downtown, and started out night at THAI RESTAURANT NAME. (You'll later learn that we basically stayed there the whole night except as we walked up the street to get to our Uber...).Read More
While usually Monday is the nation-wide-dreaded-day, I welcomed it with open arms! Being in California, in the desert, with some of my favorite people was the perfect way to wake up. I started my day with a trip to Trader Joe's where I instantly picked up some additional blooms that matched the shoot's color palette perfectly. I carried on through the store picking out the prettiest of fruits and vegetables as we knew that was an important element we wanted to add to the tablescape (and it paid offffff!).Read More
Over the next few days I'm going to explain the course of my workation, but really I want to start this mini-series off by telling you WHY it's so important.Read More
Sometimes January is a hard time to "start new"! There is so much pressure on "starting off right" and "setting new goals". Like, we just had Thanksgiving, then Christmas--how in the hell are we supposed to have time to, I don't know, reflect, rejuvenate, and outline new goals?
We're still learning what works for us, and because we all took a low-key break when Ashley was on maternity leave, the end of 2017 looked a bit different for us than it has in years past. We wanted to have a B+P Company Party and invite some of our favorite industry friends (you know, our real-life friends). We also decided to sit down and do PowerSheets TOGETHER. You see, we bought them last year, but never ended up touching them. And this year, we knew we wanted some intentional focus for our year--both personally and professionally.Read More
Happy New Years friends!

On Thursday October 12th, I went out to dinner in Edmonds with friends--across the boat. I was part way through dinner when I got a call asking when I was coming home--my grandma had fallen asleep earlier that day and hadn't woken up yet; the whole family was there. I finished my dinner and got on the ferry and came home. I got there, and she was lying in her chair in the living room. I sat close and held her, and started crying. My mom tried to console me, and then my grandpa, "What can I do to help you? he said. I bawled and said "I just want her to wake up one last time!"Read More
Lo and Connor had gotten engaged earlier this year during summer. We had set the wedding date for an intimate gathering for September 2nd, 2018--plenty of time to do all of the things we wanted to do: custom build tables, hand-sew napkins, design the perfect day for a couple we LOVE (our brother and his soon-to-be-wife, who had our hearts a long long time ago).Read More
She had good days. She had bad days. She had days where she was up, doing laundry and cooking. And she had days where she could hardly get out of bed. She had days where she hallucinated. But she had good days.Read More
This is going to be a three part story, with a beautiful wedding in between (you'll understand soon). This isn't easy to write, but I believe it's therapeutic and I believe that letting people in is better than shutting people out.Read More
So, there I was, on my couch, wracking my brain on what I would get the girls for Christmas. You see, we all have this problem where if we want something, we just go out and buy it. Yes, we are very fortunate that this is our reality…but it gives gift givers a hell of a time trying to surprise us with a gift (just ask our significant others). I really wanted to avoid giving them another goddamn blanket, in another goddamn basket—this is our usual go too—and I love it don’t get me wrong but this year especially it seemed so fake.Read More
